When Dulwich College Bangkok opens its gates in August 2026, it will mark the arrival of one of Britain's oldest school brands into a Thai market that has attracted a striking cluster of UK independents in a very short time. The campus, located in the Bangna district of eastern Bangkok, will initially welcome students aged three to eleven across Early Years and Junior School, with a Senior School and Sixth Form to follow in subsequent phases.

According to The Nation Thailand, the school has already received more than 100 applications for every teaching position, and nine of its founding teachers are joining directly from other Dulwich campuses worldwide, bringing first-hand experience of the network's ethos from day one. The founding head of college is Thomas Banyard.

A campus designed around sustainability

The school's parent group, Education in Motion (EiM), is targeting LEED Gold certification for green building design and WELL Gold certification for health and wellbeing, a combination its operators say would make Dulwich Bangkok the first international school in Thailand to achieve both standards simultaneously. The campus layout takes inspiration from a traditional Thai village, with a central Village Centre and low-rise buildings that blend local architectural references with the school's London heritage.

Phase one of the development will accommodate up to 1,000 students, with facilities including swimming pools, an indoor gymnasium, full-sized sports fields and libraries. Future phases will expand capacity to 1,800 and add a Senior School block and performing arts centre.

Part of a broader British wave

Dulwich Bangkok is far from alone. Wycombe Abbey, Glenalmond College and Highgate School are all opening Thai campuses in August 2026, joining Harrow and Bromsgrove, which have operated in Thailand for over a decade. The pattern underlines how demand for British curriculum pathways, particularly IGCSEs and A Levels, continues to drive expansion beyond the traditional hubs of Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

For families in Bangkok's eastern corridor, where the school sits near the expressway to Suvarnabhumi Airport, the opening adds a premium option that did not previously exist. Whether enrollment targets are met in year one will be an early test of just how deep that demand runs.
