Bangkok is adding another prestigious British name to its international school map. SPGS International School Bangkok, developed in partnership with Thai real estate group Country Group Development, is set to open in August 2026 as a co-educational school for students aged three to eighteen. According to Bangkok Online, the campus sits within a THB 14.4 billion mixed-use development on Rama 3 Road, integrating the school directly into a premium residential and commercial district.

For the 2026 to 2027 academic year, places are available from Pre-Nursery through to Year 6, with an initial intake of around 300 students. Secondary provision for Years 7 to 9 will follow in 2027 to 2028, with the full school growing over subsequent years to a projected roll of approximately 1,700 students.

What makes this opening different

SPGS International is the international development arm of St Paul's Girls' School in London, which has ranked first in the United Kingdom for academic results in thirteen of the past fourteen years. The Bangkok campus is its second overseas partner school globally, after SPGS International School Chengdu, which opened in 2021. Leigh O'Hara has been named Head of School, with leadership drawn from those who have direct experience at St Paul's London.

The curriculum offer is notably broad. Students will follow an enhanced English national curriculum through to Year 9, before choosing between IGCSEs with SPGS School Directed Courses in Years 10 and 11, and then the IB Diploma Programme in Sixth Form. That combination of a British foundation and an IB exit qualification has become a recognisable feature of the most ambitious new operators entering Southeast Asia.

A crowded market, but strong demand

Bangkok's international school sector has rarely been busier. SPGS joins Dulwich College Bangkok, Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok, Highgate International School Thailand, and The Jataka School, all of which are opening their doors this year. The concentration of British-linked names arriving simultaneously reflects both the depth of the city's demand for premium international education and the confidence that operators have in Thailand as a growth market.

For families considering enrollment, the campus facilities are a selling point in their own right. The 9.1-acre site features a 600-seat auditorium, an amphitheatre, a black box theatre, an innovation centre, two swimming pools, and professional-grade recording studios. Whether those facilities translate into strong academic outcomes will only become clear once the school is running, but the investment signals a long-term commitment from both SPGS International and its Thai development partner.
