AIS Saigon Produces Two Perfect IB Scores on Its 20th Anniversary
For the first time in its two-decade history, AIS Saigon produced two students with perfect 45-point IB scores, including the first Vietnamese national at the school to reach that mark.
The Australian International School Saigon celebrated its strongest International Baccalaureate results to date on Sunday, with all 111 members of the Class of 2026 passing the Diploma and two students achieving the maximum possible score, according to a PR Newswire release carried by The Manila Times. The results coincide with the school's 20th anniversary year.
Two firsts in one cohort
The two perfect scorers, Sadhika Kapoor and Quang Khang Dang, represent a notable pairing. Kapoor, a full boarding scholarship student, is heading to York University in Canada on a CAD 180,000 President's International Scholarship to study psychology. Dang becomes the first Vietnamese national in AIS Saigon's history to achieve a perfect 45, a milestone that reflects the growing presence of local students at a school historically designed for expatriate families.
Beyond the headline numbers, the cohort posted an average score of 35.5 against a global mean of 30.88, with 30 per cent of graduates scoring 38 or higher. More than two-thirds were awarded the IB Bilingual Diploma, a qualification that requires demonstrated proficiency in two languages and has become an increasingly sought signal for university admissions in Europe and Asia.
Context and competition
Ho Chi Minh City's international school sector has expanded sharply over the past five years, with new entrants and rising fees lifting both expectations and enrolment. AIS Saigon competes for IB families alongside the European International School, British Vietnamese International School, and a small number of other full-IB providers in the city. Executive Principal Jon Standen noted that "every graduating class leaves its own legacy, and the Class of 2026 will always hold a special place in the history of AIS Saigon."
Results at this level, across a cohort of more than 100 students, are likely to sharpen the competitive picture heading into the 2026 to 2027 admissions cycle, particularly for families weighing annual fees, which across the city's top international schools have risen to as much as USD 38,000 at the senior year levels, against academic return.
