Brighton College Singapore is weeks away from welcoming its founding Sixth Form cohort, a milestone that completes the school's all-through pathway from Early Years Foundation Stage to Year 13. A review by WhichSchoolAdvisor, updated this month, describes a school making a deliberate wager on the A-level route at a moment when the IB Diploma has become the default choice at almost every competing international school in the city.

The A-level programme launches with 20 subjects spanning sciences, humanities, languages and the arts. Classes are capped at 15 pupils, a ceiling the school's Head of College Nick Davies has cited as central to the model. Brighton College Singapore operates as a partnership between Cognita, the global schools group, and Brighton College in East Sussex, rated the Sunday Times School of the Decade. That affiliation underpins the curriculum design and teacher recruitment pipeline.

Removing the break at 16

Until now, families at Brighton Singapore faced a structural decision at the end of Year 11: stay on the A-level path by transferring to one of the few institutions offering that route, or switch to an IB school. The new Sixth Form removes that friction. Students who pass through the school's IGCSE programme can continue internally, and a dedicated Global Futures Centre embedded in the Sixth Form wing will support university applications from Year 12 onwards.

External applicants are also eligible and the school is actively recruiting them for the founding cohort. Entry requires a minimum of six Grade 6s at GCSE or IGCSE, with higher marks stipulated for mathematics and sciences. Brighton has indicated it will keep the founding year group deliberately small to preserve the tutorial character of the provision before scaling up as the school builds exam results and university placement data.

Pricing and positioning

Annual fees for the senior years sit at SGD 50,199 (approximately USD 37,500), placing Brighton well within Singapore's premium international school tier but below the top of the fee scale held by the city's largest British incumbents. The school shares campus facilities with the adjacent Australian International School, a Cognita-managed arrangement that gives Sixth Form students access to a 25-metre pool, three sports halls and a 300-seat theatre without requiring a standalone capital outlay.

The strategic logic is clear enough. Singapore's A-level market is underserved relative to demand among British expatriate families, many of whom are reluctant to place their children in the IB after years in the English National Curriculum. Whether Brighton can build the university placement results quickly enough to convert that latent demand into stable enrolment is the question that will define the school's next chapter.
