Shanghai's British Schools Return Strong IB Scores for 2026
Dulwich College's two Shanghai campuses led the city's international cohort, both posting averages above 37 points with 100% pass rates, as British-curriculum schools continued to outperform the global benchmark.
Shanghai's international schools have published their 2026 IB Diploma results, with a cluster of British-curriculum campuses recording averages well above the global benchmark of 30.88 points. According to SmartShanghai's July 2026 education roundup, Dulwich College led the field across both sites: its Puxi campus posted a cohort average of 37.2 and its Pudong campus reached 37.8, with both achieving 100% pass rates.
At Pudong, nearly four in ten graduates scored 40 points or above, a threshold widely seen as the entry bar for top-tier university consideration. BISS Shanghai reported an average of 35 among IB Diploma recipients, with more than half the cohort exceeding that mark and 27% reaching 40 points. WISS recorded an average of 34 and a top individual score of 41.
Individual standouts and what comes next
YCIS Shanghai produced the city's single most celebrated result: one student achieved a perfect score of 45 points, the maximum attainable in the IB Diploma. The cohort's average of 36.1 placed YCIS among the strongest performers in the city, with 31% of graduates scoring 40 or above.
The Shanghai figures follow similarly strong performances reported for Hong Kong and Singapore earlier in July. Cambridge IGCSE results, due in August, will round out the season for the city's British-curriculum schools. While Shanghai's foreign-passport-only schools have tracked well above the global IB average for several consecutive years, the 2026 data suggest no meaningful regression, even as cohort sizes at several campuses have grown.
