Rugby School to Open Its Ninth Global Campus in Hanoi This September

Rugby School Group will open its Hanoi campus in September 2026, marking the first British-tradition school to plant roots in Vietnam's capital in several years. According to Tes, the school will launch with a pre-prep phase catering to children from Early Years 1 through Year 2, with prep and senior provision following in September 2027.

The campus sits within Ciputra, the established expatriate enclave near Hanoi's West Lake, in a purpose-built facility next to a country club and golf course. The project is a partnership with Khai Sang Corporation, a Vietnamese education investor led by Mr. Tuyen Nguyen, whose group already operates five schools across the country.

The ninth school in a growing group

Hanoi will become the ninth school in Rugby School Group, which counts campuses in Thailand, Japan, Nigeria and Dubai alongside three UK prep schools. Students will follow the British curriculum from early years through to IGCSE, with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered at senior level.

Dr. Neil Hampton, CEO of Rugby School Global, said the group aimed to "cultivate young people of character, integrity and compassion, preparing them not only for academic distinction but for lives of meaning, responsibility and service." The opening reflects broader momentum in Vietnam's international school market, which has grown by 24 percent since 2020, from 292 to 362 institutions.

What parents should know now

Admissions for the inaugural pre-prep cohort are open, with the school accepting applications from Early Years 1 through Year 2 for September 2026 entry. Rugby School Hanoi will carry the group's "Whole Person, Whole Point" ethos, prioritising character development and co-curricular breadth alongside academics. Families considering Year 3 entry and above will need to wait for the 2027 phase, when the prep and senior school buildings open on a site approximately 500 metres from the pre-prep.
