Brighton College Singapore Opens Sixth Form, Adding A-Levels to Its British Route

Brighton College (Singapore) has admitted its first Sixth Form students this August, completing a continuous British school pathway that now runs from Early Years through to Year 13 on a single campus in Chuan Lane. According to WhichSchoolAdvisor, the school is offering 20 A-level subjects from the outset, combining Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel qualifications to give students flexibility in their university application profiles.

The A-level offer spans sciences, mathematics, humanities, languages, and the arts. Class sizes in the Sixth Form are capped at 15 pupils, in line with the more seminar-style approach that Brighton College UK associates with its post-16 teaching. Specialist staff have been recruited from leading British independent schools, a model that Cognita, the school's operating group, has used across its senior school provision in Southeast Asia.

A long-planned completion

The Sixth Form has been in development for more than a year. Brighton College (Singapore) held a formal launch event in January 2026 at which head of college Nick Davies, deputy head academic Emma Graham, and Richard Worrallo, director of global futures at Brighton College UK, outlined the programme's academic ambitions. Davies has described the Sixth Form as a way of offering Singapore-based families a genuine all-through British option without requiring a school change at 16, a transition that many families in the international school market find disruptive.

The school is a joint venture between Cognita, which operates more than 100 schools across four continents, and Brighton College, the Sussex-based independent school that has ranked consistently at the top of UK league tables. The structure gives the Singapore campus access to Brighton College UK's curriculum resources and staff development pathways, while Cognita provides operational infrastructure across the region.

Sixth Form supply meets a contested market

Brighton College's Sixth Form opens into a competitive post-16 market. Dulwich College Singapore added a STEM-focused A-level stream this August. Harrow International School Singapore has offered both the IB Diploma and A-levels for several years. A growing number of Singapore-based British schools are choosing to add Sixth Form provision rather than lose Year 11 leavers to international boarding schools or to other operators with existing post-16 tracks.

Whether there is sufficient demand to fill multiple new Sixth Form cohorts simultaneously remains the key question. Singapore's international school enrolment has grown steadily, but the post-16 market is narrower than headline enrolment figures suggest: a meaningful share of Year 11 students from international schools return to their passport country for Sixth Form. Brighton College (Singapore) is betting that a strong academic brand, 20 A-level subjects, and small class settings will retain more of those students. The first full admissions cycle will provide the answer.
