Nord Anglia Hong Kong to Open Dual-Track Sixth Form in Hung Hom

Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong is opening a dedicated Sixth Form Centre in Hung Hom this August, becoming the first school in the city to run both A Levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme within a single sixth form, according to The Standard. The move reshapes a post-16 market in which families choosing an international school have long faced a near-binary choice between the IB and the local DSE pathway.

The new campus, at 11 Wan Hoi Street, sits roughly 15 minutes from the school's existing secondary site in Kwun Tong. The central Hung Hom location puts it within comfortable reach of families from across Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Alongside the IB Diploma and A Levels, the centre will offer BTEC qualifications, giving students a more vocational route into higher education if that suits their direction of travel.

A calculated bet on qualification diversity

The decision to add A Levels alongside the IB reflects a shift that has been building quietly across Hong Kong's international school sector. Several families have argued for years that the IB, while rigorous, does not suit every student, and that the three-to-four-subject depth of an A Level programme can be a better fit for pupils who arrive at Year 12 knowing what they want to study at university. Until now, those families have had limited options within the mainstream international school market.

Nord Anglia is not alone in reading this trend. Kellett School is also opening a dedicated Sixth Form Centre in Kowloon Bay this August, with A Levels central to its post-16 offer. Together, the two openings represent the most significant expansion of Hong Kong's A Level provision in the international sector in years, giving families a degree of choice that has not existed before.

Scholarships and next steps

Alongside the centre's launch, NAIS Hong Kong is introducing a Sixth Form Scholarship Programme recognising achievement in academics, leadership, and community involvement. The award is open to both current NAIS students and new applicants, which means the school is explicitly using it as a recruitment tool to draw students from other institutions as they transition out of Year 11.

The Hung Hom centre gives the school a foothold in the post-16 market that Nord Anglia has historically ceded to its IB-only competitors. Whether families opt for the A Level or IB route, the centre can now accommodate them, which is a structural advantage in a city where sixth form places at international schools are increasingly oversubscribed.
