International Pioneers School Opens a New Building and Extends Into Secondary

The Bangkhae campus has unveiled Building B and a sports complex, and is enrolling Years 7 and 8 for the first time, extending IPS into Key Stage 3 in Bangkok's western suburbs.

International Pioneers School has opened a new teaching block and sports complex at its Bangkhae campus in west Bangkok, and for the first time is enrolling secondary students this academic year. According to a press release issued by the school, Building B provides purpose-built classrooms for Years 7 and 8, along with science laboratories, a library, an art room and an adjacent sports complex. An open house is scheduled for 31 October 2026.

The Bangkhae campus opened in 2022 and has run from early years through Key Stage 2 since then. Adding Years 7 and 8 completes the lower secondary stage for the first time, giving families in the district a British-curriculum option that runs from age three to 13 without a change of school. Upper secondary years are expected to follow.

A campus built for a shifting catchment

IPS attributes the expansion to demographic change in its catchment. The Bangkhae and Bang Khae districts sit in Bangkok's outer western ring, an area that has seen sustained residential development over the past several years. The school says demand for British-curriculum schooling in the area has reached its highest point since the campus opened, and that Building B was designed from the outset with the full secondary ladder in mind.

At THB 215,000 to THB 260,000 a year, IPS sits well below the fee band of Bangkok's premium British schools, where top-year tuition can reach THB 1.2 million or more. That pricing puts the school within reach of local Thai families for whom the premium tier is not accessible — a segment that has grown steadily in a city where the overall number of international schools has now reached 280.

British curriculum at a suburban price

IPS follows the English National Curriculum and is a registered Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel examination centre for upper years. The Bangkhae site mirrors the academic structure of the older IPS campuses, though it is currently the only one whose secondary years are still being built out. Families attending Saturday's open house are the first to be offered Key Stage 3 places at the campus.

The expansion is one of several at mid-market British-curriculum schools in Bangkok's suburban ring. Rather than compete directly with established names in the city's central districts, a cluster of operators has targeted areas where new housing and growing local demand have not yet been met by a British-curriculum offer. Building B is the clearest signal yet that the Bangkhae campus intends to run the full age range, from early years through to sixth form.
