Dover Court International School Expands Secondary Entry to Meet Persistent Singapore Demand

Dover Court International School, one of Singapore's longest-established British-heritage schools, has announced a round of campus investment alongside an expansion of student places across three year groups from August 2026. According to the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, the school is opening additional classes in Reception, Year 7, and Year 8, targeting the entry points that families most commonly plan around when choosing an international school.

Dover Court has operated from its 12-acre site in the Holland Road area for more than fifty years. With a student body of close to 2,000 pupils aged three to eighteen, it is one of the larger British curriculum schools in Singapore. The expansion is described as a measured response to demand that has remained consistently high. Its waiting lists, the announcement notes, rarely shorten.

What is opening and when

The additions in Years 7 and 8 carry the most practical weight, since secondary entry is typically the point of greatest constraint in the Singapore international school system. The Reception addition offers a complementary gain for families placing a young child now who want a realistic path through to Sixth Form without switching schools. A new principal is also joining in August 2026, coinciding with the expansion, though the school has not publicly named the incoming appointee.

Dover Court is part of the Nord Anglia Education group, which operates more than eighty schools globally. The Singapore campus is one of Nord Anglia's flagship Asia locations. The decision to grow within the existing Holland Road site, rather than pursue a second campus in the city, suggests the group is confident the current footprint still has room to absorb more students without diluting the experience.

A market growing through capacity, not new entrants

The move reflects a pattern visible across Singapore's international school sector. Unlike Bangkok, where growth is driven by new names opening entirely new campuses, Singapore's market is maturing: established schools are managing capacity rather than competing for first-mover share. Fee schedules at the major British curriculum schools in the city typically sit between SGD 40,000 and SGD 50,000 per year at secondary level, and most schools report consistent occupancy through the year.

For families currently on Dover Court's waiting list, the August intake is a real opening. The more fundamental question for the school is whether the 12-acre Holland Road site can accommodate further rounds of growth beyond this one, or whether the next expansion decision will require a different kind of answer.
