Kellett Opens a Dedicated Sixth Form Centre in Its 50th Year
The British international school has moved its post-16 students into a purpose-built facility in Kowloon Bay, completing a decade-long push to add A-Level provision and a university-style environment to its campus.
Kellett School, Hong Kong's British international school, opened a dedicated sixth form centre at The Bay Hub on Kai Cheung Road, Kowloon Bay, in August 2026, with capacity for 240 students in Years 11 to 13. According to Little Steps Asia, the two-floor facility spans 3,716 square metres and is connected to the school's existing Kowloon Bay campus by a footbridge, giving older students their own distinct academic environment while remaining close to the main school.
What the centre offers
The facility houses more than a dozen classrooms alongside a small lecture theatre, exam rooms, Higher Education counselling suites, and study areas designed for both independent and collaborative work. A Harkness room, used for discussion-based seminars common in top British boarding schools, sits alongside a PE theory classroom fitted with fitness monitoring equipment. The design was developed with input from university visits, with the intention of bridging the experience between sixth form and undergraduate life.
Kellett describes the space as giving post-16 students a university-style experience without leaving the school network. The school's current Year 11 and Year 12 cohorts are the first to relocate to the site. Admissions for Year 12 entry remain open to both existing Kellett students and external applicants, meaning the centre also functions as a late-entry point into the school for families who did not begin at Kellett's junior campuses.
The 50th anniversary context
The opening falls in Kellett's 50th anniversary year. The school was founded by parents in 1976 in search of a British-style education in Hong Kong and has operated as a not-for-profit since its inception, reinvesting tuition into facilities rather than distributing dividends. The sixth form centre is the headline piece of its Vision 2035 plan, announced in 2025, which also includes a major refurbishment of the original Pok Fu Lam campus.
The timing places Kellett alongside a small but growing group of Hong Kong schools expanding their post-16 A-Level provision. Nord Anglia International School opened its own sixth form centre in Hung Hom this August. Across the region, operators are investing in senior school capacity partly in response to demand from families who previously sent older students to board in the United Kingdom and are now prioritising options closer to home.
