Wycombe Abbey International School Bangkok marked its formal grand opening on October 22 by announcing its first-ever scholarship round. According to Biztalknews, which covered the ceremony, the school launched the Dove Scholarship Awards for 2027-2028 entry, with awards ranging from a 25 per cent tuition reduction to full fee coverage. Applications close on November 16.

The school began its first term in August 2026 as a partnership between Wycombe Abbey in Buckinghamshire and BTS Group, Thailand's largest urban transport and real estate conglomerate. Annual tuition runs from 701,800 baht (approximately USD 19,500) for Nursery through to 1,276,000 baht (approximately USD 35,400) for Year 13. Boarding is available from Year 7, with full boarding adding roughly 550,000 baht per year on top of tuition. Its fee tier puts it at the premium end of Bangkok's market, alongside Harrow Bangkok, Rugby School Thailand in Chonburi, and Shrewsbury Bangkok City.

Four awards, named after a founder

The scholarships are named after Dame Jane Frances Dove, who established the original Wycombe Abbey in 1896. There are four categories: an Academic award for pupils entering Years 7 to 10; a Sixth Form award for Year 12 entry; a Sports award open to Years 3 through 12; and a Music and Arts award covering the same range. Pupils may apply in up to two categories. Successful candidates receive both a fee reduction and structured mentoring support from the school.

The school is holding an information session and open day on Saturday November 14, from 09.00 to 11.00, for families considering applying. Results will be released in two rounds: December 4 and December 18, ahead of the August 2027 intake. A separate Founding Dove Award, offering reductions of 5 to 15 per cent, was also announced for pupils already enrolled for 2026-2027.

Competing in a crowded city

Bangkok now hosts roughly 280 international schools, a figure that has grown faster than student demand for several consecutive years. Several operators have responded to that pressure by cutting entry prices or preparing lower-cost sub-brands. SISB, Thailand's largest listed school group, announced a more affordable second brand last week. Wycombe Abbey is pointing in a different direction: using scholarships to attract a defined pool of high-achieving pupils rather than repositioning on headline price.

For families attracted to the British boarding tradition but weighing a two-year-old campus against schools with longer records in the city, the scholarship round creates a concrete financial reason to apply now. The school has not disclosed how many awards it expects to grant, nor any specific target for enrolment in its second year.
